The culture and tourism ministry will put The Toba Lake Festival of North Sumatra into the annual national even, in order to better promote the tourism sector in The Toba Lake at the international level. The 2010 Toba Lake Festival which is currently being held in Parapat - North Sumatera is taking the theme The Renaissance of Lake Toba and expected to be a momentum of the re-enlivening of the tourism sector in North Sumatera. The festival was officially opened recently by the director general of marketing of the culture and tourism ministry, Sapta Nirwana.
In his opening address he emphasized the importance of eduquate attention for the development of the tourism industry in the Toba Lake. Particularly to help the promotion to foreign countries. The ministry has been commited to hold the Toba Lake Festival regularly at an annual basis.
- ( Lake Toba Festival ) is one of North Sumatra’s biggest tourism events, celebrating the conservation of environment, its community, traditional cultures, sports, and, above all, reminding people of how Lake Toba was once the source of pride for North Sumatera, indeed even the whole of Indonesia.
The even covers activities related to sports and cultural performances. Sapta Nirwana also conveyed the hope that the cultural heritage can be inherited to the young generation. The 2010 Toba Lake Festival is held due to spread the three ideals of environmental awareness. Public festivity and solidarity which are expected to balance the strong effects of foreign cultures.
