The state minister for women's empowerment and child protection Linda Gumelar warned parents of the Merapi eruption to be careful of possible offerings that would lead to child trafficking. As of today luckily there has been no official report on children victims of the Mount Merapi eruption being illegally adopted and become victims of human trafficking.

When the Merapi disaster occured, many children were separated from their parents when evacuation process took place. However through aid from officials and also volunteers. These children were able to be re-united with their parents. This was said by minister Linda Gumelar after attending a signing of a joint agreement between a number of ministries on improving the social welfare of street children in Jakarta today.

Tens of cows killed by the mount Merapi eruption were destroyed on Thursday ( 18/11 ). The burning of these dead cows had to be done to prevent the spread of disease. Most of these dead cows were scattered near residential homes. With the assistance of 26 mariners, the cows were destroyed in two villages in Balerante in Dukuh Banjarsari and Ngipingsari.

The decision to destroy the dead cows was taken following the many requests from residents and also from the Klaten disaster handling taskforce. Before the burning of these animals was carried out plans to spray desinfectant to kill germs and bacteria carried by these dead animals totalled about 300. Spread over four areas that were worst affected by the lava flow. The four villages are Banjarsari, Ngipingsari, Sambungrejo and also Gondang.

Mount Merapi erupted again at 8 AM and 2 PM yesterday. Spewing hot ash sky high towards the west. Hot ash could be seen from the shelter at Purwobinangun village in Pakem, Sleman Jogjakarta. The hot ash gushed all the way in a five kilometer radius, leading to Gendol River.

At 8 AM and two PM yesterday Mount Merapi erupted again towards Gendol River and lasting for about two hours. According to head of the mountain study and technology development in Jogjakarta - Soebandrio, there is a big possibility that the pressure inside the mountain is still tense. Causing hot ash to continue spewing from the mountain.

At least 17 people were killed and 40 injured when one of the world’s most active volcanoes erupted on Indonesia’s Java island, spewing clouds of hot ash, health officials and media reports said early Wednesday, APA reports quoting Earth Times. Television footage showed residents, most wearing masks, being taken away in trucks with windscreens covered by dust. Many of the residents had earlier refused to leave their homes. "This is an initial phase of an eruption," said Subandrio, head of the Volcanic Technology Development and Research Centre in Yogyakarta, who like many Indonesians uses only one name. Metro TV reported that 16 badly burned bodies were found near the house of Mbah Marijan, the man known as the keeper of the mountain, who had refused to leave his home.
